The professional actors' equity theatre on the Hyde Park campus of the University of Chicago expresses this great university's commitment to the dramatic arts in the spirit of Princeton's McCarter Theatre, the Yale Repertory Theatre, the Berkeley Rep at UC/Berkeley to name a few.
Court Theatre began as a summer theatre season in the university's quadrangle. The artistic vision and the new company's commitment to the classics attracted a large and loyal audience. When the theatre moved to a permanent Harry Weese-designed performing space it sought assistance from Source/Inc. to express the singular meaning and awareness it had created in a visual identity for its programs that would acknowledge its affiliation and residence at the University of Chicago.
